I love science, or at least I did before the Branch COVIDIANS and global warmers took the concept of science and transformed it into an industry meant to bend to their bidding.

What I love about it is precisely that it evolves, and grows from past theories into new theories and understandings based on better information and more sophisticated ways of thinking.

Somewhere between we will all die of climate change, and we will all die if we don’t get a vaccine or wear a mask that evolution was told to go away and never be spoken of again.

We are now frequently told that ‘the science is settled’ on this or that. To question “the science” of anything is akin to speaking violence and even aligning with white supremacist views.

Of course, that’s not at all how science works. In fact, it’s the literal exact opposite of how science works.

Thanks to the internet, I can take a trip to the not-so-distant past and read some words of wisdom from The People’s Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.

What he had to say in past interviews on the nature of science would put the wannabe Twitter scientists and man of science himself, Anthony Fauci, into apoplectic fits.

“On a landscape of endless political strife, if a peace-loving space alien landed on Earth, walked up to you and requested, ‘Take me to your leader!’ would you escort it to the White House or the National Academy of Sciences?”

(Starry Messenger; Chapter 4: Conflict & Resolution)

    The Problem With Science Journalists

I want to take you back to 2007 when gaucho pants and side bangs were all the rage. Neil deGrasse Tyson was sitting for an interview with MSNBC. He had some very interesting things to say about science journalism.

    Mr. Tyson stated:

“…the press generally does not convey the uncertainty in the information provided by the scientists. This is rampant in medical circles, where people are waiting for that next cure for some ailment…”

Now that is quite prophetic. He goes on to discuss how articles claiming that there is a cure for diseases lack information regarding the trials and results:

“So there’s not enough conversation about the trials, the integrity of the results as it flows out of the number of trials that were conducted, the uncertainties of the analysis. These are not part of the communication toolbox of the science journalist.”

To be fair, facts and context aren’t in the toolbox of any journalists, but sticking to the point…

What an exciting example to give back in 2007. Fast forward, and mainstream media and the scientific community quickly claimed that the COVID vaccine would prevent you from getting COVID.

    President Biden himself said:

“You’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations.”

A year later, he tested positive for COVID. Whoops.

    A Brief History

The late great theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking also tackled the topic of “settled science.” He wrote in the intro to his book A Brief History of Time:

“Each time new experiments are observed to agree with the predictions the theory survives, and our confidence in it is increased; but if ever a new observation is found to disagree, we have to abandon or modify the theory. At least that is what is supposed to happen…”

Mr. Hawking said that science is never really settled, and any good scientific theory has enough observations attached to allow for the theory to be questioned, thus unsettled.

In fact, the New York Times added to this in an article in 2015, stating:

“Science is never settled. It is by definition, an ever-evolving body of human knowledge…”

However, this same publication wrote in 2020:

“The public health debate on masks is settled, said Joseph G. Allen, director of the Healthy Buildings program at Harvard. When you wear a mask, “you protect yourself, you protect others…”

That same year Dr. Anthony Fauci wrote in an email:

“The typical mask you buy in the drug store is not really effective in keeping out virus, which is small enough to pass through material.”

I guess it wasn’t so settled after all. And it likely never will be, is the important point to keep in mind when you’re listening to some smug leftist throwing anti-scientific phrases at you.

In China 90% of the people are vaccinated and 100% are wearing masks

China is having the largest Covid outbreak the world has seen

    Trust the science

    — Jake Shields (@jakeshieldsajj) December 27, 2022

    I Am Science!

In the same 2007 interview with MSNBC, Neil deGrasse Tyson laments:

“The caricature of science is that we hold tight to the theories we have, and shun challenges to them. That’s just not true. In fact, we hold our highest rewards for those scientists who can prove others wrong.”

    Is that really the case?

Someone failed to let Anthony Fauci in on this science community belief. Instead, when people dared to question the advice coming from the CDC and the man himself, he said it was dangerous because, as he put it:

    “I represent science.”

My someone has healthy self-esteem. Senator Rand Paul rightly bit back:

“The absolute hubris of someone claiming THEY represent science. It’s astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity.”

Lucky for us, The Man Who Is Science isn’t planning to disappear into the night post-retirement, as he alluded to in his retirement encore tour. He will no doubt need an even larger office to hold all those self-portraits of him he receives from his adoring Fauci-Fans.

The science is anything that His Eminence Lord Fauci says it is. His Excellency is science.https://t.co/02fqpOSsbo

    — Gad Saad (@GadSaad) December 28, 2022

    The Future

The keyboard scientist warriors of Twitter and the Follow the Science chanters may have ruined the field of science and, thus, possibly our civilization as a whole.

History and science together have helped advance cultures and other areas of study.

RELATED: Jim Jordan, House GOP to Finally Investigate COVID Origins, Demand Testimony From Biden Officials

If science is no longer ever-evolving, as Neil deGrasse Tyson and Stephen Hawkings say it should be, then there is no more room for growth. And if we don’t grow, there is only one other path: destruction.

The great Carl Sagan once said:

“We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology.”

It was just as accurate when he said it as it is now. But, unfortunately, we are too blind and too proud to admit this. So instead, we bow at the altar of an immovable god – and that false god has stolen the name and nature of Science.

Hopefully, scientists like Neil deGrasse Tyson can save us from our enchantment and bring back the joy of real science, the never-ending quest to answer questions and, more importantly, uncover more questions.

“There is, perhaps, nothing more human than the methods, tools, and discoveries of science. They shape modern civilization.”

(Starry Messenger: Cosmic Perspectives on Civilization; Overture: Science & Society)
