Local adult contemporary radio station, Movin’ 100.7, has switched formats to a new “classic country” musical line-up that caters to an older target audience. This is a significant switch for the station, known recently for playing lighter, upbeat music of the 80’s, 90’s, and today.
Change is nothing new for 100.7… which has worn numerous formats over the years, and relocated from Brunswick to Jacksonville to try and gain a larger share of the audience. None of these efforts have been particularly successful.
The station’s afternoon personality, Matt, appears to have been doing double duty for the parent company’s Movin’ 100.7 and Lite 96.1 stations. No word yet on what the DJ line-up will be for the new Country Legends station.
I will say that this is disappointing to me, because I thought Movin’ 100.7 filled a void — playing faster paced and more relevant music than Lite 96.1, but without a whole lot of the urban/rap or teen pop that dominate 95.1 and 97.9.
Time will tell if there’s a market for “classic country” in a city already served by no less than 3 other country music stations.

This was a big disappointment! I also don’t appreciate how a radio station can change literally overnight without any notice to the audience. Even Plant Radio did that when they moved from 93.3 to 107.3. If any other industry did that, people would be outraged. Maybe they should be trying to revamp the actual STATION schedule, instead of changing formats all the time.

WOW! no wonder i couldnt find any good songs on the station yesterday. that sucks. movin 100.7 was my favorite station because it always made me feel so good. if they were smart they wouldnt have changed it.

I wish there were a radio station devoted strictly to Praise and Worship, personally.

Switching 100.7 to classic country was a good move. True, there are already 3 country stations in the Jacksonville market but classic country from the 70’s and 80’s is vastly different from today’s country. A lot of us who used to listen country music turned the dial when redneck rock and mediocre pop of Nashville orgin replaced real country music. The new format gives us a reason to tune in again.

I feel so let down now that I can no longer listen to the music that I loved! I don’t particulary care for 97.9 (except for the MJ morning show) and I don’t ever listen to 95.1. Movin’ was the only station that I could tolerate, and now that’s gone, too!! What will I do?? I guess talk-radio is my option, now. Rush and Sean, here I come!

Very disappointed and lost. I loved movin 100.7. We got not alot of commericals and a huge variety and music old and new. I like country but we have enough stations already. It WAS the one station that I could listen to all day. This SUX!

Country freaking SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! Not everyone in Jacksonville is a a red neck hillbilly some of us are City people that like regular people music. this station was my favorite since my Ipod broke, they always had good music and very few commercials and personalities on air, to bad they went to having people playing yukalalees and singing about how they caught their wife in their trailor with the neighbor from the next trailor park down the road. they need to bring it bac and realize country is just gong to bring their ratings way down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoy the classic country format. I just wish that you would play a wider varity of the classics. There are thousands and thousands of classic country songs…but just like every other station you tend to only play the same few songs over and over…if I tune in today at 2pm, Im going to hear the same song I heard at 2pm yesterday. I love the classic tunes…but please, play more of them
