The Republican Party of Florida today voted to re-elect Jim Greer as Chairman… and it was by a significant margin. Greer was nominated by Governor Charlie Crist and seconded by Lincoln Diaz-Balart, among others.
Challenger Mark Cross gave a speech that praised Ron Paul’s recent presidential campaign, and then pulled out of the race in the name of party unity. Eric Miller, the GOP State Committeeman from Martin County, remained Greer’s only opposition.
As part of his re-election bid, Greer promised an aggressive voter registration program, a major outreach push to African-American, Hispanic, and young voters, and some kind of conference to be held later this year with young people, aged 15 to 30 years old.
When all the votes were finally counted it was 169 for Greer and only 52 for Miller.
