Representative Dick Kravitz, who is term-limited out of office this year, will not challenge State Senator Steve Wise’s re-election bid. Kravitz filed his campaign last Friday and was listed as a candidate for 2008 until this morning, when his name was switched into the 2012 race instead. That’s when the seat will be open as Senator Wise will be prevented from seeking re-election due to term-limits.
Kravitz said it was a mistake and that he meant to file for 2012 all along, but the timing makes me wonder a little if it was actually a trial balloon to see what reaction would be over the three-day weekend. Either way, Kravitz starts out as the obvious front-runner for the 2012 race.
