- Jacksonville-based Florida Rock Industries Inc., a construction aggregate, cement and concrete producer, will be acquired by Vulcan Materials Co. in a cash-and-stock-deal to be completed later this year. Birmingham, Ala.-based Vulcan Materials is the nation’s largest construction aggregates producer. Vulcan will use $3.2 billion in cash financed in new debt and $1.4 billion in shares to acquire Florida Rock.
 - After a two week hiatus, Cafe Nola at the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville has reopened.  Although several changes have been made to the restaurant since the museum has taken over operations, chef and manager Kathy Collins said that customers can expect the same great service that they’ve come to expect from the popular lunch destination.Â
 - The Rotary Club of Jacksonville has received a $150,000 matching grant from Rotary International to fund the Africa Mercy, Mercy Ship’s newest hospital ship bound for Africa. The Jacksonville club raised more than $480,000 to support the Mercy Ship project, with contributions from the Jessie Ball du Pont Fund, Meninak Club and other local groups
